Waiting List Policy & Procedures

The Child Development Center (CDC) is open year round and open to the entire community. The CDC only enrolls from our current, active waiting list. First priority is given to CDC and Family and Consumer Sciences faculty, staff and currently enrolled families.

When a space becomes available, the CDC will contact you by phone. You will have 48 hours from the contact date to respond. Your child will not be enrolled until the following steps have been completed:

1.        Forms with pertinent information about the child are filled out.
2.        One half month’s tuition is collected to reserve the space until the process is completed. The deposit of    one half month’s tuition will be returned if your child is not enrolled or the one half month’s tuition will be credited to your child’s last 2 weeks of enrollment.
3.        You and your child tour the facilities.
4.        You and your child will meet the teacher(s).
5.        Your child will be introduced to the classroom where a coordinator will observe your child.
6.        With written parental consent, the Director may collect information about your child from other child care centers, schools, professional agencies, etc. the child has attended or is attending.
7.        During steps 3,4,5,6, the Director gathers information about the needs of the child to be considered in making the enrollment decision.
8.        The enrollment decision is based on all information gathered and is made by the Director in consultation with the staff that observed the child during the visits.

The CDC accepts tuition clients as well as client’s eligible for government-sponsored services. The deposit, application fee and annual supply fee do not apply to clients who receive child care assistance from the Rural Capital Area Child Care Management Services System (CCMS). Clients who have applied, but have not been accepted by CCMS, must pay tuition and fees.

Discounts for second children, Texas State faculty, staff and/or students do not currently exist. The cost for non-tuition paying clients is established by the government through the CCMS Office and is calculated on a sliding scale based on the client’s ability to pay.
