Licensing & Accreditation

The Child Development Center (CDC) is a fully licensed child care facility.  Licensed by the Department of Family and Protective Service (DFPS) since our inception in 1977, we have maintained and exceeded the Minimum Standards required of a State licensed child care facility.

The CDC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  NAEYC accreditation standards encompass the DFPS licensing requirements, and exceed them by requiring:

  • Lower teacher to child ratios in the classrooms
  • More mandatory trainings and Professional Development courses for child care staff
  • The adoption and implementation of a recognized curriculum
  • Annual and bi-annual program assesments
  • Higher education and experience requirements for child care staff
