Ms. Amanda Reat
Amanda Reat is an instructor in the Nutrition & Foods Program and leads the capstone practicum course for undergraduate nutrition students. She is also currently working towards her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. She gained her BS in Nutrition at the University of Houston and her MS in Nutrition at Texas State University. Before going back for her PhD, Amanda worked as program manager at the Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin. In addition to teaching, she also conducts research focused on assessing chronic disease and implementing policies that can effectively prevent disease and disparities within low-income population. Her primary areas of research are breastfeeding policies and child nutrition assessment.
