Dr. Michelle Toews

Dr. Michelle Toews, Associate Professor, FCD
Michelle L. Toews, Associate Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences at Texas State University-San Marcos, received her doctorate in Human Development and Family Science from The Ohio State University.

In the past year, she has taught Research Procedures, Family Diversity, Family Life Education, and Families and Sexuality. She also supervises the Family and Child Development interns.   

Her main research interests include separation violence, conflict and co-parenting after divorce, and father involvement. In addition, she is currently working on a longitudinal research study with Dr. Yazedjian examining individual and familial factors as predictors of college adjustment and achievement.   

Dr. Toews and her colleague Dr. Karen Brown, professor in the School of Social Work, recently received $2.5 M from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families to implement their program Strengthening Relationships among Adolescent Parents.
