Licensing & Standards
The Child Development Center (CDC) is a fully licensed child care facility, licensed by the Department of Family and Protective Service (DFPS) since 1977.
We are also accredited by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) through AdvancED. http://www.advanc-ed.org/ Early learning schools that have earned AdvancED Accreditation meet recognized standards of quality, impact children’s lifelong learning and support young children in the highest regard. AdvancED Performance Accreditation for Early Learning Schools motivates schools to continuously improve on behalf of the young children they serve. The AdvancED Standards for Quality Early Learning Schools support learning, growth and development of young children in a culture of continuous improvement that engages leaders, staff and parents.
And we are a Texas Rising Star 4-Star Vendor. Texas Rising Star provides professional development resources and mentoring to sustain and improve the quality of early childhood environments at TRS certified programs.https://texasrisingstar.org/about-trs/trs-star-levels/
The CDC not only encompasses the TRS standards and DFPS licensing requirements, we also exceed them by requiring:
- Lower teacher to child ratios in the classrooms
- More mandatory trainings and Professional Development courses for child care staff
- Annual and bi-annual program assessments
- Higher education and experience requirements for child care staff
